Not on...for now.

Sorry, for the incredibly late update but Creative Worship is not currently running (and hasn't been all year). Closed due to a need for fresh creative vision. We are considering reopening as the Creative Arts Group.

There is also talk about having more directed art sessions, rather than the free expressive style sessions we've had previously. I think this could help inspire us a little more.

I'm currently occupied with studies. But I'm hoping for more art time in the Christmas holidays, so watch this space.

I downloaded some MP3's from John Paul Jackson's resources, on the Creative Spirit. The things he shares in these teachings have been fascinating to listen to and I recommend it for anyone with a strong artistic bent.

Here's an interesting blog article that ties in a little with my second Creative Worship publicity video. Again it shares the idea that as we grow up our creativity can very easily get squashed out of us. Hence the reason for Creative Worship! A safe place/space to come and play again free from criticism, pressure and stress:

Healing Through Creativity

My former workplace (don't hold that against them!) are running their best course of the year. =) I highly recommend it. It's lots of fun. Can also be a lot of tears. But it's truly my favourite course. I love seeing the vulnerability and openess of people's hearts on this course, something about paint and mess and colour and fun...it's like time is rolled back and they turn back into little kids again, and I think for that reason, those who are brave enough to go on it, can't help but be transformed by it.

Creative Acts of Faith

Hi! Welcome to the Creative Worship Blog.

We're currently having a 2 week break, to refresh, replenish and refocus on God's heart for us individually and also as a whole for the Creative Worship evenings. Where's God leading us? What direction does God want us to take Creative Worship?

I often get a lot of random thoughts about Creative Worship, Creativity and Spirituality. So this blog will be full of some very random insights. Too out there and unrefined to put on the website. But hopefully they will be useful, nevertheless!

Here's the first insight...

Creativity and Faith

I had a dream early this morning. I was wheeling a giant plastic box up the Commenara Parkway in amongst the cars and trucks. (A dangerous endeavour!) I was taking it up to the church for an artwork I was going to create. I was talking to God, but sort of preaching to myself (or maybe it was God preaching to me?) anyway, I was talking about how some people, they create works and then they have the faith to believe in them coming true.

But for me, just sitting down and working on my art works and creations is an act of faith.

While I'm creating, that's when I'm believing.

Once I've created it, I don't look at it so much anymore. But for me the act of faith is while I'm creating. That's when I'm believing and calling forth what isn't yet into being. (That's when I'm being prophetic!)

But I think the dream was showing me, there's even faith in the preparation. In collecting what you need to create what you desire. While it's still in your head, and your heart, what you're thinking about or desiring to create and make.

And then when you act on just a thought or a suggestion, or an idea. That's really a huge act of faith.

Bet you never thought of it that way, hey?
